County Broadband fttp

As always cities and towns get the goodies and country areas are ignored.

BT, or Bloody Terrible, which is what I think the initials mean, behaves irrationally and is absurdly expensive. Essentially they wish the countryside didn't exist so they give ridiculous prices. Here follows a real example, mine in fact. Half of my village has been connected by BT to fibre. The last post is 350 m from my house. To complete that short distance BT has estimated about £70 000. Yes the number is correct. Of that we would have to pay over £40 000. If it wasn't so absurd it would be laughable. The local MP took up the matter and got what I call a foxtrot oscar reply from BT. Exactly what I expected.

A private company - County Broadband - has been subsidised to provide fibre to the premises here. There have been some doubts expressed publicly about its past selling techniques but it seems to have changed its ways. I have decided to sign up for the project. The worst that can happen is that I get lumbered with paying for two years of the cheapest service. I will run it alongside my 4G service until I am convinced it works OK. I will report progress here.
